Sept. 14 wildfire claims workshop to feature fraud, recovery tips

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Office of the Insurance Commissioner’s next workshop for wildfire survivors in Spokane navigating the insurance claims process is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 14.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau will provide tips on preventing fraud and scams, and the non-profit organization United Policyholders will share best practices on wildfire recovery at the Sept. 14 meeting.

As part of the Science on Tap event services, Chelan County Chief Deputy Coroner Faye Fetters will give a presentation on Sept. 22 titled "Coroner's Office: Fact or Fiction."

The free presentation is 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Ground Control Bottle Shop and Taproom, 10 N. Wenatchee Ave. in Wenatchee.

Fetters will talk about the Chelan County Coroner’s Office and some common misconceptions about death investigations. Fetters will explain the process of an investigation, what tools are used, and what goes on in the Chelan County morgue. They will also answer common questions about what happens to someone after death.
