Wildcats silenced by Boxers in Forest Grove



FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Cooper Sheakley had a multi-goal match for Pacific in the Boxers' 2-0 shutout of the Linfield men's soccer team on Sunday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
 
Sheakley didn't waste any time, striking in the

fourth minute of the match off an assist by Lucas Miller. Sheakley struck again in the 59th minute off an assist by Noah Edwards for his second goal of the match and his fifth of the season, which is tied for third in the Northwest Conference.
 
The Boxers put up nine shots and six shots on goal while limiting the Wildcats to five shots and one shot on goal. Sheakley and Jayden Adkison finished with two shots apiece for the Boxers.
 
Freshman midfielder Maximus VanEaton led the 'Cats with two shots in 49 minutes while sophomore midfielder Ruben Lopez, freshman midfielder Wyatt Ackermann and junior forward Cesar Cruz-Espindola all finished with one shot. Cruz-Espindola had the 'Cats' lone shot on goal.
 
Sophomore Peyton Frazier made his fourth start of the season in the loss, playing all 90 minutes and making four saves.
 
NEXT
The Boxers moved to 4-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in Northwest Conference play with the win. The 'Cats fell to 1-7-0 overall with a 0-4-0 NWC mark in the shutout.
 
The 'Cats will open a three-match homestand as they look to snap a five-match skid. They will host Puget Sound at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Pacific Lutheran on Sunday, also at 2:30 p.m.
 
LINFIELD COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
All individuals (age 12 and over) entering any athletics venue must provide proof of vaccination along with photo identification. Since all Linfield faculty, staff and students have completed this task in order to be on campus this fall, the Linfield individual must simply show their current Linfield ID.
 
Masks must be worn by all spectators at all times. Participants, including players, coaches, support staff and media on the sidelines, must wear masks throughout the duration of all athletic events, both indoor and outdoor, and during pregame and postgame activities.
