Women's Tennis Concludes Day Three of ITA Regionals



NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's tennis team wrapped up day three of the ITA Regionals at the Multiuse Facility on Saturday afternoon. 


How It Happened

The Bruins enjoyed another long day of tennis

and learned experience, going 4-9 in singles play and 0-1 in doubles. 


The highlight of the day came from freshman Abigail Bond who took down Froukje Lakerveld of Whitman, 8-5, before conceding an 8-7 (7-5) marathon to Whitman's Mae Thorp.


Graduate Danielle Brown played her way to the round of 16 in the main draw before falling to Linfield's Taryn Fujimori 6-3, 6-0 on day three. Sophomore Ellie Mangan is the Bruin's final representative heading into the final day of the tournament as she battles through the first-round winners consolation bracket.

Coach's Thoughts

"Abigail finished a great consolation win against Whitworth and put up a great fight against Whitman," said head coach Rick Cruz. "Overall, the girls played strong in their first tournament, and I'm excited about the spring!"

Up Next

Today, Sept. 27, marks the fourth and final day of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships. Mangan will face Lewis & Clark's Macarana Vives at 9:00 a.m.
